Greetings!
Welcome to World Wines and Liquor!

Service, service and more service! That is our goal and we are asking you, our fine customers, to get involved. Of all the retail stores you visit, what is your top rated service-oriented business? What made you choose them? Don't be bashful, we can take it. What is your least favorite service-oriented business?

Don't agonize over these three questions, but we'd love to hear from you. The results will be in our next issue. Thank you in advance for your response.

Cheers,
Alan

Ask Brian for your favorite wine!
Summer time- and we're doing all we can to make your wine drinking easy. Check out these great wines that are gentle on your wallet.

PKNT Winery: Pinot Noir, Carmenere, Cabernet and Chardonnay - all varietials are on sale. This is a great time to stock up on these value wines from Chile. (now only $5.99, originally $7.99)

2004 Artesa Cabernet - a blend of cabernets from the Napa and Sonoma vineyards, this has bright flavors of blackberry, raspberry and cassis accented with chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla, clove and smoke. Nice acidity and a wonderful price! (now only $19.99, originally $24.99)

Menage a' Trois : Red, White and Rose - fruit forward and easy drinking, these are ideal for sipping on those hot summer days. You're sure to enjoy these, especially at the lowest price of the year! (now only $9.99, originally $11.99)

2005 Massena Eleventh Hour Shiraz - made from 60 to 100 year old vines, this shiraz is comprised of parceled fruit from several different Barossa vineyards. The wine is an excellent example of traditional Australian winemaking and showcases it at its best. (96 points from Robert Parker)

2005 Schild Barossa Shiraz- smooth and round, impressive for its seamless balance, offering cherry and grilled pepper flavors against refined tannins. The open texture reveals sweet spices and mocha flavors as the finish lingers. Has complexity, depth and excellent detail. (93 points from Wine Spectator)

2004 Ojai Vineyard Syrah, White Hawk Vineyard - a big, beautiful syrah with a deep nose and engaging fruit, supported with wonderful underlying spices and great tannins. This is from the same vineyard that shares its harvest with Sine Qua Non. This one consistently earns high scores. Try one today and you'll see why.

Wine Trivia:
How many sizes of wine bottles are there?
(answer in our next newsletter)

Answer to our last trivia:
The wreck of the Titanic holds the oldest wine cellar and some of the bottles are still intact.
Colleen can help you with that special liquor!
We get more new liquors and liqueurs all the time! Here are a few of the latest, along with a few favorites, of course.

Back by popular demand! Pimms Cup is back in stock. You asked for it and we got it. Just come in and pick up a bottle for the super low price of $16.10.

42 Degrees Below - this awesome vodka is from New Zealand, 42 degrees below the equator. International judges give this vodka high ratings. Vodka lovers, don't miss this one!

Giori Lemoncillo - so nice and refreshing on a 96 degree day! Just keep a bottle in your fridge and drink, letting the zest of the lemon refresh you. Try a bit in fruit salad or even over ice cream. So delicious sprinkled over fresh peaches!

Amarula Cream Liqueur - flavors of caramel and hints of chocolate and vanilla that will sweep your taste buds away! It's from the Marula tree which only grows in South Africa and cannot be cultivated. They produce these great tasting berries. This is meant to be enjoyed on the rocks. Don't mix with citrus or acidic drinks.

Colleen's Homemade Drink Corner
Tequila Mockingbird
1 ½ oz Cuervo Tequila
½ oz Hiram Walker Triple Sec
½ oz Hiram Walker Blue Curacao
2 oz orange juice
1 oz cranberry juice

Fill a highball glass with ice. Add tequila and triple sec, followed by the juices. Do not mix. Add Blue Curacao. Enjoy!
Mary Ann is always surrounded by great beer!
With these hot summer days, we naturally think of baseball games and lazy days at the beach. And of course, beer! Try some of these!

Michelob Ultra Lime Cactus - smells and tastes like lime, with great flavor. This is a very light beer and is perfect on the hotter days. ($5.89/ 6 pack)

Clipper City Hang Ten Weizen Dopplebock - a German-style weizen bock, slightly cloudy in appearance and bursting with flavor! ($8.99/ 4 pack)

Wittekerke Belgian White - light in alcohol with a crisp and refreshing flavor. ($7.99/ 6 pack)

If none of those seem to fit the ticket, don't worry. We've got more. These are some of our favorites.

Southern Tier Uber Sun Imperial Wheat Beer - takes off where Hop Sun finishes. Uber Sun is clean and full of flavor.

Abita Purple Haze - a raspberry wheat beer with a tartly sweet taste! So great for the summer. ($7.99/6 pack)

Lagunitas IPA - raging hop character engages the imperial qualities of the malt foundation. ($7.99/ 6 pack)

Beer Trivia:
What is secondary fermentation called?
(answer in our next newsletter)

Answer to our last trivia:
The first consumer protection law was passed by Duke Wilhelm of Bavaria in 1516. It was called the Rheinheitsgebot (meaning "purity law") and stated that beer could only be made from barley malt, hops and water.
We have some wonderful tastings scheduled for fall. Please check our webpage for further details.
